Improbable Worlds Limited Cookie Policy

Last Revised: July 2018

We use cookies on our website and other online services to collect information that helps us improve your user experience. This policy explains the different types of cookies we use and how you can control them.

If you have any further queries, please contact us at legal@improbable.io.

1. What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device. They are widely used in order to make websites and other online services work properly and/or more efficiently. They can do this because they allow our services to recognise you and remember important information (e.g. your user preferences).

2. What cookies do we use?

As set out below, we use two different categories of cookies: Essential Cookies and Performance Cookies.

Essential Cookies. As the name suggests, these cookies are essential to the operation of our services. Without these cookies, the services in question would not work properly (e.g. you wouldn’t be able to navigate around the site or access certain types of content). These cookies cannot therefore be turned off without severely affecting your use of the services.

Essential cookies include for example:

Cookie name Description
auth The ‘auth’ cookie is used to allow you to sign in to the SpatialOS website. This cookie will remain on your computer for up to 10 hours or until you click ‘sign out’. Until that time, you’ll remain signed in to the SpatialOS website.

Performance Cookies. Performance cookies, which often include analytics cookies, collect information about your use of our services and enable us to improve the way they work. For example, performance cookies show us which are the most frequently visited pages on our website, allow us to see the overall patterns of usage, help us record any difficulties you have with our services and show us whether our advertising is effective or not. We also use cookies to help you navigate within our website and travel back to pages more efficiently.

Performance cookies include for example:

Cookie name Description
acct_pref The ‘acct_pref’ cookie is used to remember which 3rd party account you used to identify yourself when you signed into the SpatialOS website to streamline future authentication challenges. This cookie will remain on your computer indefinitely until you click ‘sign out’.
_cef.s This cookie is used to track visitor sessions on our website via Crazy Egg. This cookie expires after 3 months.
_ga The ‘_ga’ cookie is used to track your interaction with the SpatialOS website via Google Analytics. This cookie expires after 2 years.

3. How do third parties use cookies on the services?

In some circumstances, we may work with third parties to provide parts of our services, and those third parties may use their own cookies. For example, third-party advertisers may use cookies to collect information about your use of our services and/or the advertisements you have clicked on. This information may be used by them to serve advertisements that they believe are most likely to be of interest to you based on content you have viewed. Third-party advertisers may also use this information to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements. We do not control these cookies, so to disable or reject them please refer to the relevant third party’s website.

4. How do I control cookies?

You may refuse to accept cookies from our services at any time by disabling cookies in your browser or on your device.

Further information about the procedure to follow in order to disable cookies can be found on your browser provider’s website, or you may wish to refer to http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/index.html for information on commonly used browsers.

Please be aware that if cookies are disabled, not all features of the services may operate as intended.

5. Changes to this cookie policy

We may change this Cookie Policy at any time: please take a look at the “Last Revised” date at the top of this policy to see when it was last revised. Any amendments to this Cookie Policy will come into effect a reasonable period of time after this “Last Revised” date (normally we consider 30 days to be a reasonable time period) unless you contact us before that date to discuss or query any of the amendments.
